Especially in the developing country context, Trade Policy is not just about tariffs. It encompasses the full range of policies that reduce trade costs, including at- and behind-the-border measures.
Developing Trade Consultants and its Principal, Dr. Ben Shepherd, have worked on a wide range of Trade Policy issues. Non-tariff measures and product standards (including SPS measures and TBTs) are a particular area of specialization. So too is trade in food staples and agricultural products-an issue of great importance to many low-income countries. In light of the Millennium Development Goals, and now the Post-2015 Agenda, DTC has also worked on Aid-for-Trade, potentially a crucial way in which the developed world can help contribute to efforts on the ground to leverage trade for growth and development.
